It's All Started When...

🌱
Monash University was aiming to unify study space data across libraries, faculties, and booking systems to save students over 30 minutes finding seats during peak periods. I led a Smart Campus proof-of-concept that consolidated availability, booking, and crowdedness data into a single student-facing web app. By aligning multiple systems and stakeholders, we delivered real-time visibility and improved the on-campus experience.

Lucy's Role

Owned end-to-end problem framing, translating student pain points into platform requirements and system constraints across campuses.
Led cross-functional delivery with 10+ engineers from Monash eSolutions, Deloitte Digital, and AWS under a two-week timeline.
Designed the integration architecture across Syllabus+, LibCal, Google Calendar, Archibus, and WiFi data sources.
Defined the MVP scope and feature set (availability, bookability, crowdedness) and drove executive alignment for launch.

Results

50+ stakeholder interviews → quantified study space usage baseline → anchored solution priorities
5+ disparate systems unified → single source of truth → reduced information fragmentation.
2-week PoC delivery → executive accepted → accelerated Smart Campus roadmap.
Defined scalable operating model → enabled leadership investment decisions.
